Dr Abdul Rauf Sheikh
Cardiologist
Dr Abdul Rauf Sheikh is pleased to be able to provide a regular cardiology service to patients in the Gawler area. Dr Sheikh is an interventional and general cardiologist with a special interest in complex coronary procedures but is available to see patients with the full spectrum of adult heart disease.
Abdul’s passion for medicine stems from his father who is also a cardiologist. The satisfaction and joy that results from successfully treating acute heart attack patients was the inspiration for him to pursue a career in interventional cardiology.
Following the completion of his PhD in 2017 Abdul was awarded a CSANZ-UK scholarship to commence his training in interventional and structural cardiology and further post-doc research in the area of interventional cardiology at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust UK.
Dr Sheikh is actively involved in research as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and holds an appointment of Clinical Senior Lecturer and examiner at the University of Adelaide Medical School.
During his spare time Abdul likes watching soccer & cricket on TV and spending time with his family. He is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi & Hindi. He consults regularly at the Injury Hub at Gawler and also from SA Heart’s Modbury, Norwood and Calvary Adelaide rooms.
